M.O.H.’s Preparation Continues…

Marvin Manzanero

The Ministry of Health says that they have acquired a stock of geo-bracelets that, in the coming days, will be tested out.   When it comes to the health app, its approval process will take a couple more weeks and so, it will not be ready for the reopening on the fifteenth. The ministry, however, has a back-up that will be used. The ministry gave an update on the beds available at the I.C.U.

Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services

“I do know that the Karl Heusner has five beds right now; five adults and one pediatric. But it doesn’t mean that, remember we don’t have any case, but those beds are available with the ability to expand up to twelve and if you have to section off areas of the A&E it can go up to twenty more plus the twelve. If you have to turn it into a COVID-19 hospital that is how it happens. Every area has beds that are specific for COVID-19. Right now, on the go, as I heard the figure thrown out yesterday, five and one right now.”

Dr. Russell Manzanero, Epidemiologist, Ministry of Health

“Yesterday we were in discussions looking at the reopening with the PGIA and what is pending for completion. The health app is one that came out and I know that at my unit is actually where we do surveillance and this is where all the information from those visitors would be fed and we will be able to follow. We indeed saw that the application – I asked how far it is and that app will be ready but the approval for the app is another process. So, there would be the process and time ready for use will be in a couple weeks. However, even though that might not be ready for the fifteenth of August, we are looking at our surveillance unit along with those at the central region will be working along with another app that we have developed to be used for the surveillance of the visitors that will come in as well. So, we do have a separate app that is to be used in the event that it is not available.”
