Shedrack White Charged for the Murder of William Rubio

Shedrack White

He was detained by police minutes after he inflicted a fatal stab wound to William Rubio near the Pound Yard Bridge on the night of July twenty-ninth. Over the weekend, Shedrack White was charged for the murder of the Saint Matthew’s villager. Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser this afternoon remanded White to the Belize Central Prison.  White, who appeared unrepresented, was ordered to return to court on October first. Rubio, who suffered a knife wound to the left side of his neck, died minutes later.  White, a fisherman of Central American Boulevard, was reportedly socialising with the deceased when an argument erupted. Rubio was reportedly waiting outside a nearby barbershop to get a trim when he was stabbed.  Senior Superintendent Hilberto Romero says that the homicide was the result of a fight.

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Police have since arrested and charged Shedrack White, forty-nine years Belizean fisherman, for the crime of murder. This is after investigation was conducted and advice was sought from the Director of Public Prosecution.”

Hilberto Romero

“Has there been any establishment as to why this gentleman killed the victim?”

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero

“Well there was a fight prior to the stabbing; that is what resulted in the stabbing.”
