Santa Cruz Chairman Standing His Ground Against U.D.P. Standard Bearer

Vincent Scott

Santa Cruz Village chairman Vincent Scott says that members of the council have decided that they will not give up the names of persons who have paid for the lots in fear that Williams will take control of the list and the project. Scott says that the village council is ready to work with the Lands Department and Williams if he would respect the council’s input.

Vincent Scott, Chairman, Santa Cruz Village

“I went into Mister Vallejos from 2017 when this project started. He was the one who told to go in and mark off the lots. He is the one who told us, who showed me how to write the receipt in front of everybody. So he was the one who told us to start the project. To find out now that somebody has permission to survey for the project, that he told us to collect money for and then now somebody else has the permission to come in what will happen to all those people who have paid for the lot since 2017.  That was the plan from day one to take away the project from us. I have the list of the people but I have spoken to my councilors, I have spoken to the people who I gave the commissioner a list of the people who told me that they rather that we hold on to that list and when the time comes for the survey that we work together and deal with it. Why would they want that list and take away that project from us? Saturday I met with Ivan Williams at th is house and at that meeting on this coming Sunday we were suppose to have on big meeting and I was suppose to explain to the people at the meeting what we are going to do, that he was going to give up the recommendations and give up the lease. So I was fine with that. Yesterday now I found out that he was in the village with these papers walking around telling people that he is in charge of the village and in charge of the project and he was going to get a hundred and ninety names so that he can bring it to Minister Faber so Minister Faber can see that the people are on his side and they want him to take over the project. I want to know how could they bring Ivan Williams in my valley and take over a project that we have been doing from 2017.”
