Johnny Briceño Calls Out U.D.P. Hypocrisy

John Briceño

Opposition Leader John Briceño also chimed in on the events of the past two days at the Port of Belize Ltd.  He points to the two-facedness of the Barrow administration for coming to the aid of the Christian Workers Union from a legal perspective, but siccing the Gang Suppression Unit on its members who were protesting on PBL compound on Wednesday.

John Briceño, Leader of the Opposition

“What I find hypocritical of the U.D.P. is that they have been in government since 2008 and they said that they had the answers to all the problems that are facing Belize and now here we are now, fast-forward to almost thirteen years after they have been in office, we have a group of peaceful protestors in the port and they unleashed the GSU at them, set them with tear gas, rubber bullets, savagely beat them up and dragged them out of the compound.  I mean the GSU, please man.  I mean you are saying that you are on the side of the workers and this is what you’re going to do?  I know what these workers have gone through, I have experienced it and now you are going to send the GSU at this time?  And then to turn around and want to blame the opposition for this?  Something is absolutely wrong with the U.D.P.”
