Several Persons Detained for Double Murder in the West

Joseph Myvett

So, there you heard from the families of three of the victims in the shooting. We turn now to the police department for the official report. In the story, you heard that there may have been a second person involved, but police say there was only one gunman and the killing was motivated by a rivalry between two groups. The investigation has led to the detention of several persons.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Upon arrival they observed four persons in a car sitting, two of whom had received serious gunshot injuries while the two persons at the back also received injuries. What we know so far is that the taxi driver, twenty-two-year-old Samuel Hill, was along with his front seat driver Windell Trapp, who was accompanied at the time in the back seat by nineteen-year-old Marques Robateau and twenty-nine-year-old Telesha McKay; whilst police officer Danny Jimenez, thirty-two-year-old, was standing outside the vehicle speaking to one of the persons inside the vehicle when a gunman appeared from a northerly direction walking and in the process of pointing the gun towards the vehicle, a struggle ensued between himself and Danny Jimenez, during which Jimenez was shot and fell to the ground. As a result, the gun man then turned his gun towards those persons inside the car and fired several shots which resulted in the death of Windell Trapp and Samuel Hill; while the others are in a stable condition at this point in time. We do believe that this is as a result of an ongoing rivalry between two groups in San Ignacio. At this time our officers are on the ground investigating and several pieces of evidence have been gathered. We have several persons in our custody and we are seeking one or two more persons in relation to this investigation at this time.”

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“The persons who were in the company of Trapp when he was shot and killed are no criminals. From our records, one of the young men who got shot is a coast guard officer; one is police member Danny Jimenez which you all know is a well celebrated football player. We have a female who is admitted in the hospital still. All four are persons who we know have impeccable character. It just so happens that they were in the company of Trapp. As a matter of fact, Mr. Jimenez had just exited the night club and you would know that Trapp himself is an excellent football player, too. So, when Jimenez was passing Trapp called him and as football player to football player they were talking and that is when the gunman came. There was a struggle between Jimenez and the gunman for the gun and it was during that struggle that Jimenez was shot and he fell to the ground. Subsequent to that the gunman went to the vehicle and the rest was history.”
