Elena Smith to Patrick Faber: “Let’s see what will happen, I guess, come November.”

Patrick Faber

It is no secret that Minister of Education, Patrick Faber, has had some bitter moments with the Belize National Teachers Union. Both have been bucking heads over a myriad of issues and sometimes it has become personal. But Faber is now the Leader-elect of the ruling United Democratic Party so we asked B.N.T.U. National President Elena Smith for a reaction to Faber’s victory.

Hipolito Novelo

“Faber is now the leader of the United Democratic Party. Did the B.N.T.U. watch that convention closely because we know that Faber and the B.N.T.U. and personally with yourself have had a very rocky relationship?”

Elena Smith

Senator Elena Smith, National President, B.N.T.U.

“Well for me nothing is personal. He does his job and I do my job. Yes, at times they become personal but there is always a way of dealing with that. They have their method electing, selecting their leaders and I guess they used that method. I am not a fanatic of any political party. I don’t vote for those kinds of things. He won congratulations to him. He is the party leader now. Let’s see what will happen I guess come November.”
