Chester Williams

The Security Services Commission has granted promotions to several security personnel, including over a dozen officers of the Belize Police Department. Three senior officers were promoted including Dezerie Philips-Magdaleno who is now Deputy Commissioner of Police; Marlon Allen and Richard Rosado were promoted to acting assistant commissioner of police. Commissioner Chester Williams spoke about the movements up the ranks in the force.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“You would know that since the retirement of Mr. Mariano, we have had a vacancy for a deputy. Mrs. Magdaleno moved into that spot upon Mr. Mariano’s retirement. And since then she has and continues to do a splendid job as the commander of administration. So, yesterday the services commission approved her acting appointment to the rank of deputy commissioner of police. Mr. Marlon Allen who is a long standing police officer working at head quarters. He moved into Mrs. Magadaleno previous post of commander of management services which is an assistant commissioner post and so yesterday Marlon Allen was promoted to the rank of acting assistant commissioner of police. When it comes to Mr. Richard Anthony Rosado he recently completed his doctorate degree. He is the first police officer to have a PhD and he is posted at the compliance, planning, research, inspection legal affairs unit, which for me is the brainchild of the department because they are the ones that make the policies and so forth. So, I believe that with his qualification and his research was focused on police administration. So, he too was promoted yesterday to the rank of acting assistant commissioner of police.”

There were six promotions in the Senior Superintendent rank, including Commander of Region Two Sinquest Martinez and Dwayne Sutherland the Commander of the Professional Standards Branch. Two police officers were promoted to Superintendent, while six other officers were promoted to assistant superintendent. The president of the Police Association Jane Usher was promoted to Inspector of Police.
