Are There More U.D.P. Resignations to Come?

While several others are said to be considering not seeking re-election in November, the U.D.P. chairman says that in the case of Gapi Vega and Sedi Elrington, all indications were given ahead of the convention.

Michael Peyrefitte, Chairman, United Democratic Party

“We don’t say if you don’t want to be a part of the party going forward and you believe that you have served long enough and you want to make way for new blood, then that’s a part of the process.  We don’t see any problem with what has happened you know, it’s a part of the process and we have an election less than four months and so we go forward for that, put our best foot forward and the people then would decide who they want to represent them in parliament.”

Michael Peyrefitte

“Sir speaking in resignations, remaining on the topic of resignations, can you clarify what happened in the case of Dianne Finnegan?  I’m not sure if you are aware but I think reports are out there that she resigned from the Youth Apprenticeship, but there are also reports saying that her contract or her term was up for that program.”

Michael Peyrefitte

“Well I’m not familiar with her contract with the Youth Apprenticeship Program.  I have received no indication of her resigning from the constituency or anything like that.  I’m not familiar with that apprenticeship program, but like I said, I fully expect her to be the candidate for Lake-I in November.”

In the south, Punta Gorda Mayor, Ashton McKenzie also announced he will not run again. McKenzie was Saldivar’s supporter.
