San Felipe and Blue Creek on Total Lock Down

Joseph Myvett

No one goes in and out from the villages of San Felipe and Blue Creek in the Orange Walk District, but there is movement of poultry and agricultural products. Those two communities have been placed under a State of Emergency given the increase of active cases of COVID-19 in Blue Creek.  There is a fear that the community cluster might transform into a community spread in the next few days. The two communities are under heavy police guard and today Head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch, ACP Joseph Myvett told the media that officers are working around the clock to properly secure the villages.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“The police along with B.D.F. we have set up twenty four checks point at several locations within the Blue Creek San Felipe Area and those are being manned on a twenty four hours basis. We know that several agricultural produce as well as poultry is brought out from that are so there have been some arraignments made where those persons bringing out or talking in products are met at those checkpoints where the items are then handed over to persons within or outside of that area. So those persons are not allowed to leave and go outside the community while those taking supplies in that is done in the area where the check points area.”
