Another Group of Belizeans Repatriated

Another repatriation flight landed today with over twenty persons including military officers and two diplomats. United Airlines landed at the Philip Goldson International Airport at around midday after applications were approved by authorities here. So far, one thousand and fifty-one applications have been made, nine hundred and eighteen have been approved and three hundred and nineteen Belizeans have returned home. In this group, three persons will be allowed to self-quarantine due to pre-existing medical conditions. Two of those persons will self-quarantine in the Stann Creek District while the third will be at home in Belize City. Director of Health Services Doctor Marvin Manzanero says that health officials will be checking up on these persons regularly to ensure that they adhere to the protocols.

“Some people from the military came in as well. So those were quarantined, not in a hotel, but at the training school and two persons with diplomatic passport which are quarantine individual. Normally, we give the approval before people board the place so that we go and check where they are going to quarantine give advice, if it not an isolated place because people do have a home, a floor of a building, a remote setting a rural community where they will be quarantined. Those are easier but if it is going to be a shared home then we have to go and assess that. Some people opt to move out so that that they can have the whole building to themselves. We make sure that they are swabbed and there is routine checks. It does not have to be physical. It may have to be via phone or sometimes we ask people to call in an report on themselves because honestly keeping tracks of hotels, home and those quarantine in public facility can be a real set back in terms of the staff that we have.”
