No Charges for the Murders of Raheem Faber and Raheem Miles

Chester Williams

In Belize City, charges have not been leveled on any of the five men who police believe are responsible for the murders of Raheem Faber and Raheem Miles last weekend.  Commissioner of Police Chester Williams informed today that because witnesses are reluctant to provide statements, the main suspects in these related murders could not be charged. They are, however, being held at the Central Prison due to the anti-gang state of emergency.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“While yes we know who these persons are, the difficulty is the fact that they threaten people and witnesses are unwilling to cooperate. So because of that, we have not been able to bring charges against anybody. But C.I.B. personnel are on it; they are still trying to convince those persons who saw what happened to give statements. We are hoping that when these people go away to prison, that it will give the witnesses some degree of comfort that they may want to give us more than just word of mouth in terms of what they saw. So we are going to continue work on it and see if hopefully we are able to bring charges against them later on.”
