ACP Marco Vidal Suffers a Stroke
Assistant Commissioner of Police Marco Vidal headed an early morning law enforcement operation in Belize City on Tuesday where he led just about three hundred police and B.D.F. officers into various neighbourhoods in the City to round up active gang members under a new state of emergency. Vidal was at the press conference on Tuesday afternoon and thereafter was hospitalized. The raid was successful, but tonight the operations commander is hospitalized and remains under observation after suffering a stroke. We understand that ACP Vidal has a history of hypertension and that the extensive assignment carried out on Tuesday may have had a hand in the cerebro-vascular accident. Vidal, News Five is told, will not return to active duty for the next few weeks to afford him time for full recovery.
