U.B.F.S.U. Set to Demonstrate in Belmopan!

There’s new development into the University of Belize’s management issues. Late this evening, the President of the UB Professor Clement Sankat issued an invitation via a press release to the Academic Council, Senior Management, Directors, UB Faculty & Staff Association to announce that there will be an online meeting on Monday morning where he will present his recommendations on how they will deal with reducing the cut of the seven million dollars for the school year 2020-2021. Sankat says, “I will be doing so after due, deliberate and extensive consultations with all of our stakeholders, many of you, and I sincerely thank all of you who have responded to my request to share your thoughts on how we can treat with this severe projected cash reduction of thirty-three percent of our cash annual income.” The release goes on to point out that Professor Sankat has not received any suggestions or recommendations from the U.B.F.S.U., although they are in receipt of recent financial reports. Sankat calls on the U.B.F.S.U. to urgently do so. And in related news, the U.B.F.S.U. has been meeting all day and announced, via press release; peaceful demonstrations across its campuses are to be held on Thursday. The demonstration for its main campus kicks off at ten in Belmopan. The protestors will march between ten a.m. to twelve noon, starting from the National Assembly steps and will move on to the South Ring Road and next to the UB Administration building by way of the Libertad Road. We’ll be in Belmopan to bring you the demonstration. You can follow along on News5Live on Facebook for the highlights.
