Belize Health App Will Track Visitors Entering Via P.G.I.A.

Karen Bevans

A novel feature of the international travel experience during these COVID times is the use of a mobile application to track the whereabouts of visitors arriving from the United States.  The Belize Health app, as it is known, is a mandatory piece of software designed to follow the movement of users where contact tracing is concerned.  It comes with an individual identification number that will be monitored by health and tourism officials.  Director of Tourism, Karen Bevans further explains arrival requirements and processes.

Karen Bevans, Director of Tourism

“All passengers traveling to Belize will be required to download the Belize Health app and complete the required information prior to boarding the flight to Belize.  A QR code with a unique ID number will be returned to the passenger and will be used for contact tracing while in Belize.  Passengers will also have the option to take a COVID PCR test within seventy-two hours of travel to Belize.  As a part of this pre-travel process the passenger will start by booking flight and hotel.  Once the hotel information is issued, the hotel will be asked to inform the guest that the Belize Health app must be downloaded and completed as a requirement for entry into Belize.  The hotel will also encourage the guest to take a COVID PCR within seventy-two hours by highlighting the fact that producing a negative result on arrival in Belize will allow for a fast-track arrival process. Our arrival requirements and process: Upon arrival in Belize, all passengers will be required to adhere to all health and safety protocols implemented by the Government of Belize, including social distancing, health screening and the wearing of face masks in public spaces.  Passengers will disembark and proceed to health screening, temperature checks and verification of health information based on the unique ID given in the health app.  Passengers then provide certification of a negative result from the PCR test done seventy-two hours prior to travel and will then be directed to the fast-track lane to be immediately cleared.  Passengers that are unable to provide a negative COVID PCR test must take a rapid test on arrival in Belize.  This will be at a cost to the passenger. “
