P.G.I.A. Reopens on the Heels of a New School Year

Dean Barrow

The reopening of the P.G.I.A. comes five days after the beginning of the new school year and there are concerns that with new arrivals in the country there may be a spike in the number of cases that move on to become community spread.  Prime Minister Barrow says that if the date was to be pushed back to November, at the start of the high season, schools would still be in session.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“But schools will still be open in November, so I am not sure that in fact the point you are making.”

“Well if there is significant community spread, schools will have to close eventually, if there is and we all pray there is not.”

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“That‘s what I am saying, if we‘re going  to have significant community spread whenever you open, what‘s the difference in opening now or on August fifteenth, as opposed to waiting November.  If there is community spread schools will still be open.”
