The COVID-19 Pandemic has caused many businesses to lose revenue. The 501 Hub Restaurant in Belize City is one of those businesses; owner and manager Lorena Zaldana says she feels the plight of food vendors. So, in an effort to generate revenue for food vendors and exhibitors during this COVID-19 pandemic, the management at 501 Hub Restaurant has organized a Foodie Expo for this weekend. Twenty food exhibitors are expected t participate in the Foodie Expo and visitors can expect to sample all types of foods from all over the country. Zaldana says preparations are underway to make sure that the S.O.E. guidelines are adhered to.

“It is not only a way to bring all of these skills to Belize City but of course the economy needs the boost. A lot of these businesses, our restaurant is definitely struggling so I thought that if we are feeling it the way we are then all of these small businesses as well. A lot of these businesses emerged because of COVID-19. Anybody who comes we wanted to be a family event because of the diversity of products whether your thing is desert, whether you are vegan, whether you just love food the way we do. We want the public to come out and support by purchasing from these vendors. We have a variety of food from all of the country. There is going to be a little bit of everything for everyone. We just repurposed our bar. When the alcohol restriction started, we just started a juice slab which is all healthy juices and smoothie just to help people boost their immune system which is really needed right now. We have some students who are volunteering coming in and making sure with the head count, making sure that we stay within the hundred. If in the event we get more than a hundred then we just ask them to wait outside and the parking lot is big enough and spacious enough. We are doing it for two days to make sure that the public has a long period to come and enjoy what is going to be displayed here. So it is going to be Saturday and Sunday, both days from ten am to four p.m.
