Gas Tomza Robbed Again; This Time in Belmopan!

Joseph Myvett

Robbers target a second Gas Tomza depot in less than a week. The latest incident happened on Friday around five-forty in the evening in Belmopan where armed men held up the gas attendant. They stole monies and personal items. Just last week, the depot at one and a half miles on George Price Highway in Belize City was held up and robbed. Today, ACP Joseph Myvett shared the details.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Police responded to a robbery at Gas Tomza in the San Martin area of Belmopan where Juan Carlos Ico, the attendant at the time, reported to the police that whilst there he was approached by two dark complexion male persons who were both armed and demanded money and as a result they were relieved of an undisclosed amount of money, as well as other personal items. So far we don’t have anyone detained and we are following several leads in relation to this.”

“Sir, we notice that several days ago the Belize City depot was attacked and now you have the Belmopan depot attacked. Is there any correlation?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Not that we know of. We have met with these owners of these gas companies on several occasions and had asked them to put measures in place in relation to their own security. Hence, this seemingly wasn’t done and they seemingly continue to be a target for robbers.”
