Weed Seller is Shot at Home in San Ignacio

Hilberto Romero

There was a shooting incident in San Ignacio on Sunday night that has left a local marijuana dealer hospitalized with an injury to the upper leg.  Sometime after eight o’clock on Sunday, a pair of men on a motorbike visited the home of Isaias Azueta where they inquired about purchasing weed.  When he responded that he did not have any, the men proceeded to open fire in Azueta’s direction, hitting him in the right thigh.  Despite providing investigators with information on the incident, the victim told police that he could not identify his shooters.

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“On Sunday, June 14th, 2020 around 8:09 p.m., San Ignacio police visited the San Ignacio Community Hospital where they found Isaias Azueta with a gunshot [injury] to the right thigh.  He reported that he was at home when a motorcycle came to his house with two male persons who were asking to purchase weed.  The complainant reported that he mentioned he had no weed and as a result, he was shot to the thigh.  He then fled inside his yard and into his house after which he heard three more gunshots and then realized that he was shot once.  He is in a stable condition at the hospital.  We have no suspects at this time for this shooting.”
