“The transfusion is applied generally through the veins. The duration of the treatment varies. It can last two hours, sometime five hours, but during the time the patients can be found here being monitored by a medical team. This room is amiable, it has internet, television. The patients can be here with their families. They can read books, watch a movie. It is for them to feel comfortable so that they can feel safe during the treatment.”


At Galenia Hospital, Doctor Virginia Quinto specializes in nuclear medicine. The hospital is the only location in the Yucatan Peninsula that offers this specialized service. Using a gamma camera, nuclear medicine is used to treat abnormal blood flow, aneurysms, blood cell disorders and tumours.

“This is the equipment. This is a gamma camera. The advantage of this equipment is that is has two panels, as we can see, and this offers the advantage in the diagnosis and study of a patient. What this means that in a single moment we can capture two images at the same time. It is less study time. The equipment has the cover that can rotate three-sixty degrees around the patient. We can do a 3D reconstruction of the organ that we are studying. The studies are short and not invasive.”


Doctor Carlos Rosalez is an Otolaryngologist who specializes in ear, nose and throat. He also does head and neck surgery. He uses state of the art equipment to carry out his surgeries successfully.

“I have a endoscope technology that is very new. That is an endoscope that we can do surgery with it. The main purpose of this equipment is for doing surgery but I adapting that for office consultation. So that allows me to see the ears as nobody else. It is a software HD ear equipment. So we can see the ear. We can see the nose. We can see the throat in high quality video. We can record it also if we have some problems in high quality video.”
