Students Preparing for CSEC, CAPE Exams

McKinley King

Students will be sitting CSEC and CAPE examinations in July. That was the decision coming out of the First Emergency Virtual Meeting of the Council for Human and Social Development earlier this month and since then, schools across the region have been preparing students for these tests via virtual classes and other forms of study. In Belize, despite the COVID-19 situation, the preparation continued with students turning in their S.B.A.s and staying focused on the exams. News Five spoke with a couple high school principals today about the sessions.

“Our plan from the day we closed on the twentieth of March was that our teachers were asked to continue their sessions with the fourth formers to ensure that they are well prepared for CXC at this time; so I believe that yes, we are well prepared for CXC. It’s going well thanks to the teachers. We have some very dedicated teachers. But I know for a fact that with some of the students, we are having a few problems, especially the ones with internet problems. The lack of data; in fact, data is very expensive, but overall, it is going well.”

“We have been having classes every day online since we came back from Easter and our senior teachers now get to focus on fourth form who still have CXCs ahead of them.”
