Five-month-old Didn’t Die from Vaccine

Marvin Manzanero

On Tuesday, we reported the death of a five-month-old baby from Bella Vista Village. The report reaching our newsroom was that the child was administered a vaccine at the Independence Polyclinic. But the baby girl, Kynslee Jasmin Caal, died four to five days later after she got ill, showing signs of respiratory problem and a fever. The Ministry of Health received the report and launched an investigation which is still ongoing.  But now the autopsy has been completed and today DHS Doctor Marvin Manzanero gave an update, saying that there doesn’t appear to be any link between vaccine and the baby’s death.

Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services

“The initial report had indicated that the baby had apparently died from dehydration and not getting adequate and timely care. This is a five month child – you can get dehydrated very quickly and it would seem that after they left the facility, there were some complications that the baby was having – dehydration, fever. But they didn’t seek medical care until it was a little bit too late. I did get the autopsy report earlier from Dr. Bear – and I could go back and look textually at what was written because that is the official report but it is not related to the vaccine. The official cause of death was asphyxiation by bronchial aspirations. So, it means that the baby had some of the stomach content go into both lungs and that is the reason for why the baby had died. One of the findings that the autopsy has revealed is that the baby had an acute enlargement of the heart. So, that would have been a pre-condition to the baby being ill and of course you wouldn’t have been able to determine that unless you do an autopsy or unless the baby had other signs and symptoms which had not been related to us.”
