Are You Allowed to Swim During the SOE? The A.G. Responds

To wrap up the AG’s presentation…when it comes to swimming at public pools, rivers, creeks, the sea and other waterways; that is off limits. But if you are on a property that has its own swimming pool, then you are allowed to take a swim. Here’s how Michael Peyrefitte responded to a question submitted during today’s Ask the Experts live online show.

Dorian Pakeman, Host

“This person wants to know, they live in a condo and there is a community pool at the residence; are they allowed to swim there considering they live in that condo?”

Michael Peyrefitte, Attorney General

“Well, is it a private compound?”

Dorian Pakeman

“It’s a private compound. There are all condos there. They own and live in the condo, so are they allowed to use that pool?”

Michael Peyrefitte

“I will say technically because that entire compound is private property, they can swim there because it private property for that condominium. However, we have to say if you are going to jump into a pool where ten other apartments are jumping in, you jump at your own risk.   If it is a private pool you can swim in it, even though it is still not advisable. But if it is a private pool who can stop you? But no public pools are allowed.”
