Chester Williams Holds the Fate of 3 Police Officers

Chester Williams

Jason Shaw, Leslie Martinez, and Anthony Villamil have been charged and arraigned for the crime of Willful Oppression. The trio is accused of forcing a man and a mentally challenged woman into a sexual act at an abandoned house on Central American Boulevard.  The coercion was recorded by one of the officers on his cell phone and released. The video went viral, which prompted Commissioner of Police Chester Williams to direct the Professional Standards Branch to carry out an investigation. While the matter is before the court, today Williams told the media that the officers have been given the opportunity to explain why they should not be kicked out of the force.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“We have written three police officers involved and we are asking them to show reasons why they should not be dismissed from the police department in light of the allegations against them. It is a part of natural justice. I cannot at this time say whether or not they will be dismissed because that will show some bias on my part who will be the ultimate decision maker but as soon as a response is received which should be by tomorrow I will review the response and make a decision as to whether or not they will be dismissed or remain with the department but whatever decision I make must b e done reasonably considering all the circumstance and again that will be in the interest of  natural justice to ensure that the rights of the officers as well as the rights of those persons who are aggrieved by their conduct is taken into consideration.”
