City Hall Services Available Online

Bernard Wagner

Even as City Hall has closed its doors for now because of the state of emergency, there are a number of essential services being provided, including sanitation and market vending. Other services such as the licensing of vehicles, the renewal of driver’s license and payment of taxes can be done online. Mayor Bernard Wagner says that they are working virtually from home.

Bernard Wagner, Belize City Mayor

“We have tried to ensure that we operate within the confines of the S.I. and the regulations which says that you have to respect social distancing. So what we have been doing is doing this in a virtual; we have set up a virtual mechanism for those individuals and residents who need to renew their licenses. There is our webpage, www.belizecitycouncil.org webpage, and you go right there and it gives you clear instructions. And so it just takes the person the time to acquaint him or herself with the platform and it is a very easy platform. We know there are many others who cannot access this and we look at the situation day by day and hopefully within a week or two based on the results that will be coming in with the new cases, we will look forward to the day when we can all get back to the normalcy of life. They get a receipt and it serves as a means to ensure that you have gotten your license. And they print it out and if you want it delivered, it is delivered to you as well. So we do have that mechanism in place.”
