The Port Loyola Planned Expansion

The Port of Belize may be getting a two hundred million-dollar expansion in the coming years. According to Chamberlain Consulting, Waterloo Investments Holdings, a part of the Lord Michael Ashcroft portfolio, is the project lead. According to Chamberlain Consulting, back in 2016, G.O.B. had asked Waterloo Investments Holding to research the viability of a cruise facility at the Port of Belize. Chamberlain Consulting says that an initial feasibility study done with the help of Royal Caribbean Cruise Line shows that there is tremendous economic opportunity in such an expansion.  Now, the proposed expansion is being hailed as a gateway to commerce and culture because the project has two components; a berthing facility for cruise ships along the dock and the bulk handling storage for agricultural exportation. Today, Chamberlain Consulting, as the agent for the stakeholder engagement in this project, held an online session with reporters to share more about the project that is being proposed. Chamberlain says that three drafts of their Environmental and Social Impact Assessments have been submitted. Today, she gave the press an overview of what the project’s planned expansion aims to do for tourism and agriculture.

Chamberlain Consulting says that they have done consultations with over seventy partners and expect to be engaging the wider Port Loyola community as they move forward in the process.
