Improved water system for San Antonio

Residents of San Antonio Village in the Cayo District now have a refurbished rudimentary water system in place. Work on the system started in May and in September the system started pumping water into the village. The villagers consume about twenty gallons of water per day and the new system, which is capable of pumping ninety gallons a minute, can efficiently meet the demand. In his address to the villagers, Area representative, Minister Daniel Silva called on the community to work together despite whatever religious or political differences there may be. Silva says based on advice given to him by engineers, the people of San Antonio will no longer have water problems and the only way the system will stop producing potable water is if the Macal River goes dry and the chances of that happening is slim. The refurbished San Antonio water system project cost seven hundred thousand Belize dollars. The money was provided by the government of Belize.
