Experts Entourage Breastfeeding during Pandemic

Ada Cuello

The adage Breast is Best still applies to keep babies healthy and strong. The experts are recommending that mothers continue to breastfeed but to take the necessary measures to protect their baby from the virus.

Ada Cuello, Nutritionist

“We are still encourage to breast feed even if you are suspected or confirmed case of COVID just taking of course necessary measures to prevent the spread to the new born baby. So if you are practicing skin to skin or breastfeeding, the mother’s advice is of course wash your hands before touching the baby, wearing a mask and wash your hands after but still feed the baby. If they are in a critical condition because of COVID we are encouraging them to express the milk so take out the milk and feed the baby with a spoon or cup until the mother is able to breastfeed again. We are still encouraging breastfeeding instead of the bottle feeding.”
