No Passes for First Week of State of Emergency!

Michael Peyrefitte

On Wednesday, essential services employers were invited to submit two names of workers to operate during curfew hours of eight at night to five in the morning.  Well, those passes are not coming yet, if you are still wondering. At least they are not coming for this week, according to the Minister of National Security.  Peyrefitte says that no one should have any reason to work during curfew hours and anyone found outside after eight in the night will be arrested.

Michael Peyrefitte, Minister of National Security

“There will be no passes issued for at the very least first week of this curfew. No passes. So, anybody who is out there between eight p.m. and five a.m. will be arrested and charged.  Nobody has been able to convince me that they say whatever they have to do at one in the morning they can’t do between five a.m. and eight p.m. What is it that is so urgent that it can’t wait for five in the morning? Of course, I am accepting if it is a medical emergency and in that case the time it would take for you to get a pass you wah dead. The proper thing for you to do is to call the police and they will come and take you to the hospital or you can go to the hospital and say I was shot or stabbed and in that case then clearly there is a medical emergency. Only the Minister of National Security is allowed to grant you a pass and that pass will be signed only by the Minister of National security and so if you have something in your hands that is not signed by the minister, you are not safe and you will be arrested and charged. That is the rule that is specifically put out here.  The pass will look something like this. It will have the head with the Ministry of National Security Curl Thompson Building. You will need to list the ministry to which you belong if you are a government employee. Your job post; name; social security number; employer or manager name; C.E.O. or manager have to sign and this will be sent to the relevant ministry or if you are a  business it will be sent to the ministry of investment who will then forward it to Colonel Enriquez or Colonel Lovell who will make a determination if you need a pass or not and they will pass on to me for signing based on their recommendation of the national security personnel.”

Exercising by running, jogging or walking only – gyms remain closed – provided that social distance protocols are kept and three feet maintained.
