MOH Threatens Pharmacies Selling 2 Medications

Today, the Director of Health Services came down hard on any pharmacy that is selling two medications: hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin. It is reported that a number of persons have been purchasing the two meds, which have been touted in some countries as a cure for COVID-19.  The director reminds the public that the two medications should only be bought with a prescription since the meds can have serious side effects.  According to health officials, there is no registration of hydroxycholoroquine being imported into Belize for this year. The ministry says that any pharmacy engaged in the sale of the medication will have its license revoked. In the case of hydroxychloroquine, which has been used to treat malaria and rheumatic diseases, it has not yet been proven as a treatment for COVID-19.
