Six cops suspended for helping murder suspect

The Police Department, badly embarrassed last week by official complicity in a murder suspect’s subverting of justice, has reacted swiftly to punish those involved. Six officers were today suspended from duty pending further investigation of an incident in which a detained suspect in the murder of Therese Blake was helped to obtain a razor. He then used the instrument to cut all the hair on his head and face and thus avoid participation in an I.D. parade. The policemen, all constables, are number 262 I. Pelayo, 16 M. Guzman, 665 A. Cawich, 90 E. Arthurs, 155 L. Chun and number 46 A. Bol. Today’s action is only the beginning of the disciplinary process which is being handled by the police Internal Affairs Branch. Another hearing will be held shortly after more evidence is gathered in the case. During their suspension the officers will not receive pay. Since the arrest over two weeks ago of two alleged conspirators in the Blake murder, no other suspects have been charged.
