S.I.B. Latest Economic Figures for February 2020

The Statistical Institute of Belize has released its most recent figures as it relates to the Consumer Price Index and External Trade Bulletin.  Last month, consumer prices increased slightly, as the cost of airfare, school fees and home rentals went up by zero point four percent.  Conversely, food and LPG prices were down.  When compared to February 2019, those figures have increased marginally.  In respect of housing, water and electricity, February saw an overall increase of zero point eight percent over the same period last year.  While domestic exports were done by roughly thirty-three percent in February, imports went up by a little over three percent.  The total value of imports last year amounted to one hundred and fifty point five million dollars.  That represents an increase of four and a half million dollars more than last year.
