1 Dead & 2 Others Injured in Traffic Accident

Dorian Anthony

One man was killed and two others injured in a road traffic accident on the George Price Highway. This morning, Dorian Anthony was on his way to visit his incarcerated son, but he never arrived at his destination.  The collision took his life and left his two friends, Gary Trapp and Dan Myers, injured.  There are some discrepancies about who may have been driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. On the scene, we were told that Anthony was in the front passenger seat, while Trapp reportedly told police that Anthony was driving. Here’s the story.

Andrea Polanco, Reporting

Forty-three-year-old Dorian Anthony, also known as Dorian Pook, died in a road traffic accident just after nine this morning. Anthony was reportedly sitting in the front passenger seat of friend’s red min-SUV when the vehicle slammed into this parked trailer at mile thirteen on the George Price Highway, directly in front of the Caribbean Paper Company. It is believed that vehicle experienced a blow out while Anthony and two friends were driving to Hattieville.

Voice of: Brittney Card, Niece of the Deceased

“He was heading to Hattieville and he was going to look for his son at the jail.”

Andrea Polanco

“And he was travelling with two other friends?”

Voice of: Brittney Card

“Yes, two ah his friends.”

Andrea Polanco

“Now, what have you guys heard about how that accident happened?”

Voice of: Brittney Card

“Well, from what I understand – I believe that he had a blow out and then he collided into a vehicle that was parked.”

Andrea Polanco

“Was that vehicle his or was Mr. Anthony driving?”

Voice of: Brittney Card

“Not it is for one of his friend. He was the driver but it is his friend’s vehicle.”

This surveillance video shows a glimpse of the vehicle as it was barreling down the highway and then it came to a screeching halt as it slammed into the container. That loud bang alerted workers at the Caribbean Paper Company and they ran out to help. When they arrived on the scene, they saw that the mini-SUV was lodged underneath the container and one man was trapped inside.  A backhoe was used to extract the man from the wreckage but by that time it was too late. Carlos Cardinez and Trenton McKoy are employees of Caribbean Paper Company. They heard the loud bang and rushed out to the highway to help. They sprang into action to help.

“At the first moment we see it very rough because it happened right in front of our compound. I was upstairs doing my routine and then I heard the loud bang. So, when I run out our co-workers told us it is an accident and some of the guys were already trying to pry open the door. So, I run in and get a strap and try open the door. The driver was stuck behind the steering wheel and we managed to pry the door open and release him out and put him on the ground. The passenger on the back seat, he came out easily because he get slight hurt but the passenger in the front passenger seat he was totally stuck in the car.”

Andrea Polanco

“So, one of the guys was trapped?”

Trenton McKoy

“Yes, one of them was trapped, yes. Well, the driver and the passenger were trapped. A backhoe came and lifted the trailer and some of our guys assisted and open the door and haul out the old man and then we haul the vehicle more so that we could get out the other person but he was already dead.”

“So, did it take long to pry open the car and to extract him?”

Trenton McKoy

“It took a little while, yes.”
