Johnny Gives Assurances to K.H.M.H. Staff

At the prime minister’s press conference this afternoon, Opposition Leader John Briceño also addressed the issue of occupational concerns being raised by the K.H.M.H. Workers Union.  While the K.H.M.H. Authority met earlier today to discuss these issues ahead of a planned demonstration on Tuesday evening, Briceño told the media that assurances are being given to employees of the national referral hospital that their well-being will be looked after, as well as those of their families.

“We do recognize the concerns from the employees of Karl Heusner and that I think it is important for us to give them the assurances that they are going to be looked after.  If they’re going to be in the frontline of this crisis that’s looming ahead of us that they need to be reassured that should something happen to them, that they get sick, we’re going to look after then and we’re going to help to look after their families.  That message has not been conveyed to them as yet, but we take the opportunity to mention it, we take the opportunity and if necessary, both the prime minister and I are prepared to meet with them.  But we need to try to discourage as much as we can at a time of crisis, especially with the hospital, Karl Heusner, being the premier hospital institution in the country.”
