Grieving Family Wants Justice for Brutal Killing of Carolyn Arnold

Carolyn Arnold

An elderly woman, who is a grandmother and great grandmother of many children, was viciously killed and her semi-clad body found at a dumpsite in the Ladyville area on Tuesday morning. Carolyn Arnold reportedly left a friend’s house on Monday night, but did not make it to her own house since her life was snuffed out sometime later.  There have been no arrests in the murder, but the grieving family of Arnold says that despite previous reports, some of her personal belongings cannot be located. Here is News Five Duane Moody with a report.

Duane Moody, Reporting

It’s been almost thirty-six hours since the gruesome discovery was made at an illegal dumpsite on a dirt road off the Philip Goldson Highway near mile thirteen. The partially nude body of sixty-four-year-old Carolyn Arnold was found with cut wounds to the neck. The mother of four children, fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren was affectionately known as “Mamz” to many, including relatives and friends, was God-fearing and would help every and anyone she comes in contact with. So the news of her demise has left the family and the wider Ladyville community perplexed.

Elena Arnold

Elena Arnold, Sister of Deceased

“I got the news about the tragedy of my sister Carolyn and it was so sad. I couldn’t believe what they done to my sister. I noh know who would want to try and kill her cause my sister is a very quite girl. She never speak nothing of violence to nobody. She noh even like quarrel, she noh even like talk, she noh even like to party, drink or smoke. I try to push her into it. I start to drag her to dance so that she can laugh and be happy and she say, sister I noh into dehn kinda thing deh. She into ih church. Who know Carolyn Arnold or Carolyn Orio would know she is a very nice and smooth person.”

Elena Arnold says that she last spoke with Carolyn on Sunday asked her to visit with her in Belize City for two days. She never showed up and had a bad feeling since then. Carolyn had been brutally killed and her body dumped on the side of the road.

Supt. Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Eastern Division

“A female body was sighted in a road in the Lake Garden area near the M&M Construction Site. As a result, police visited the scene where they observed the motionless body of a female person lying face up on the street side with an apparent injury to the body.”

Carolyn was reportedly visiting with a friend less than a block away from where she lives on the Lake Gardens Road on Monday night.  And while there are conflicting information on the time that she supposedly headed home, that was the last time that she was seen alive. The elderly woman never made it to her house as her body was discovered in the same clothes the following day. While the family is awaiting test results from the Forensic Department as well as the report of the autopsy, scheduled for later this week, they say that several of Carolyn’s belongings cannot be located. They also don’t believe that she was killed where her body was found.

Lisa Brandon

Lisa Brandon, Daughter of Deceased

“When I found out, we couldn’t really believe that it was really my mom. We thought that we mi wah find mi ma. If anything we mi wah find my ma ina ih bed, [dead] probably from heart attack or something like that. Not somebody fi do this to my ma, especially dah Ladyville. The thing is, my mom mi deh dah one of her friend’s house until nine. After nine, my mom disappeared. So what happen between being at somebody’s house? So all ah we need fi be careful of who dah I friend, who we di entice…we could say you dah fi we friend, but to the end of the day, we don’t know what this person could be thinking in ih mind. Right now, there is a lot of hate and jealousy and we need a lot of prayer and God.  She had to be taken there. Something had to happen from right where she was at that house from seven the night between seven and nine or coming on the morning because now yo di hear seven, yo di hear nine and yo di hear eleven. So everything is puzzling from right where she mi deh; the house start. After that, we don’t know.”

So who killed Carolyn and why?

Elena Arnold

“The corner where she lived, I neva like that area none at all. I neva like it and that’s why something about that area, I neva like it and so I tell ahn please come stay with me. Ih say I am coming, but ih neva did come. But it has to be somebody weh deh around the area or somebody weh got vengeance against her. For what? I don’t know, but God noh di sleep.”

Lisa Brandon

“She’s just a lovely, sweet person. I don’t know. I guess the person have to really, something probably happen fi make that happen.  Whoever did that, dah you and God. We di feel fi we own pain right now, but she sacrifice…unu sacrifice my ma fi save all ahn we, to bring we closer, fi whatever. If dah fi di land dispute unu di fight mi ma and kill mi ma for, which is wrong, that’s another thing. Because people say that people mi di threaten mi ma. It could be basically that or it could be the house weh she mi deh nine o’clock the night. And nine, my ma noh really deh pan street nine. My ma dah like me; we go sleep seven, seven-thirty o’clock dah night. We dah noh out nine o’clock people unless dah wah emergency or something like that, then maybe. So it is still puzzling what happened or who did it to my mom.”
