“You failed the south side of Belize City” – Cordel to Barrow Administration

Cordel Hyde

Deputy Party Leader Cordel Hyde also took the opportunity during the debate on the no-confidence motion to chide the south side area representatives of Belize City for the conditions being faced by their constituents.  In his usual layman presentation, Hyde expressed disappoint in the government of the day, which, in his opinion, has had twelve years to do right by the people who voted them into office.

Cordel Hyde, Area Representative, Lake-I

“The people in this country were excited for a U.D.P. government in 2008.  Out of thirty-one seats, you guys won twenty-five and we coulda mi lose all thirty-one.  Some of our guys won by sixteen votes because when the people are fed up nobody is safe bredda.  We saw it in 1998 and we saw it in 2008, so the people were all behind you.  The people on the south side were excited, they were going to have the best and the strongest ministers in all the land.  They were going to have the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance, the Deputy Prime Minister who is the Minister of Education, the Minister of Housing, the Minister of Human Development, Social Transformation and Poverty Alleviation, Minister of Foreign Affairs, they even got the Minister of Trade and what has happened?  We have more poverty on the south side than ever before.  We have more people dying every day than ever before.  We have more people who are looking for work and can’t find work than ever before.  More of our children are out of school on the streets than ever before.  More of our people are living in broken down houses.  You guys failed the people of Belize.  You failed the south side of Belize City.  You were supposed to be different, that’s what you promised.”
