Was Keith Courtenay’s Murder Gang-Related?

Keith Courtenay

Keith Courtenay was shot multiple times just a few feet from his mother’s door on Tuesday evening. Courtenay reportedly shielded his grandson with his body and took as many as eight shots. He later died at the hospital. His family says that he was a quiet and easy going man, but today police say that investigators believe that his murder was gang-related. At today’s police press briefing, Superintendent Alejandro Cowo shared that a police surveillance camera has helped the investigation and led them to two persons being questioned.

“Information was received of a shooting on Sarstoon Street at the Long Barracks and as a result, Police proceeded to the K.H.M.H where they observed forty-two-year-old Keith Courtenay suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the body. While he was receiving treatment he succumbed to his injuries about an hour and a half later and he was pronounced dead. What we understand is that Mr. Courtenay was riding his bicycle towards Sarstoon Street, when a male person along on a bicycle, followed him and fired the shots at him which caused the fatal injuries.”

“Any information about why there was that attack on his life?”

Supt. Alejandro Cowo

“We believe it is gang-related and so far there are several persons detained at this moment and police are interviewing them likewise.”
