Is KHMH Prepared for COVID-19?

So how is the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital preparing for the possibility of an outbreak?  According to Chief Epidemiologist, Doctor Russell Manzanero, who met with K.H.M.H. personnel earlier today, referrals to that hospital will be dealt with on a case by case basis should there be a need for patients to undergo ventilation or oxygen therapy.

“Sir, what is the KHMH, the country’s national referral hospital, doing to prepare itself for what could become an eventuality.”

“I believe, as the DHS has mentioned, there are levels as to how we want to give the attention and case management to individuals who might become infected.  There are different levels and we would look at the cases individually to see how we would manage them.  The majority of the cases we are being guided by the WHO and CDC to see how we can manage those cases.  What we’ve seen is that indeed, eighty percent of the cases are mild.  So for those individuals and the ones that we’ve been seeing in the neighboring countries, for example Mexico, these individuals are not even in a hospital but they’re being cared for in their home, so there is homecare.  The only point when we would actually do a referral to the Karl Heusner is when these are very severe cases, cases that would merit ventilation or oxygen therapy, these would be the ones that would be sent or should be referred to for Karl Heusner.  So we have established that with them and they have their isolation ward already equipped.”
