“The helicopter was over the site during the operation.”

Brigadier General Steven Ortega

“About zero four-thirty, thereabouts.”

“Are you able to say what time the helicopter left the airwing?”

Brigadier General Steven Ortega

“The helicopter left about zero four hundred, however, they have to do preliminary checks and warm ups prior, so you would hear the helicopter start up and  lift up because they do checks , which are safety checks that is normal. But they left for the operation at zero four hundred.”

“General, can you say whether the helicopter was equipped with a flight data recorder and if it was, has it been recovered?”

Brigadier General Steven Ortega
