A robber is in police custody for robbing a grocery store at gunpoint in Orange Walk Town on Tuesday night. Police say that two armed men walked into 128 Store and proceeded to rob the establishment around seven that night. One of thieves then fired a shotgun, injuring one person inside the store. But quick police action led to the detention of one of the criminals and the recovery of the stolen items.

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Police responded to a robbery at 128 Chinese store where the proprietor reported that two male persons robbed the business establishment; one was armed with a knife and the other was armed with a shotgun. During the robbery, they stole an amount of cash and a cellular phone, thereafter one of the persons fired a shot from the shotgun which hit the wall and then the pellets struck one of the occupants in the store. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. Quick police response led to the detention of one person who is expected to be charged for robbery. The cash and cell-phone were recovered.”
