Steve Duncan Resigns from the Senate

Steven Duncan

On Tuesday, as the testimony of Jacob Kingston indicated that Saldivar had travelled to Miami to pick up fifty thousand U.S. dollars in cash reverberated across Belize, there was word that Steve Duncan had called it quits in the Senate. Duncan is one of government’s appointed senators and a senior banker. His decision to quit the senate was likely predicated by the possible charges of money laundering which could arise from the evidence of Kingston.  As a senator, Duncan is a Politically Exposed Person and it would not be prudent for him as a senior banker to be a senator representing a government that is faced with such serious allegations. As a PEP, the banking transactions at his bank are highly scrutinized.
