Tracy Disappointed from Sunday’s NPC Loss

Tracy Panton

Albert Area Representative Tracy Panton received the fewest number of votes in Sunday’s U.D.P. convention.  She had from the onset admitted to being at a disadvantage since only seventy-five percent of the five hundred and sixty-eight delegates were made available to her during the campaign.  Today, Panton shared with the media her feelings on the outcome, but stopped short of responding to the question of John Saldivar’s leadership.

Tracy Panton, Area Representative, Albert Division

“It’s not a good feeling.  It’s certainly not a good feeling.  I did not step back from the race, I did not withdraw my application because I feel very strongly then, as I feel very strongly now, that the only way you can change a system or change a process is if you are prepared to get involved and I worked with the circumstances as best as I could.  I believe in fair play, I believe in the democratic process and I tried the best I knew how to add that to the mix.  The rest is history, the votes have been counted and we have a new deputy leader of the United Democratic Party.  We will have by this afternoon a new Deputy Prime Minister of this government and I am prepared to work with him and all my colleagues to move this party forward.”

“From a political perspective, are you able to go into the next election being led by John Saldivar?”

Tracy Panton

“I don’t think that is for me to comment on.”

Reporter

“He’s your party leader, Tracy.”

Tracy Panton

“My race is in the Albert constituency and I know that I will, I am favored to win in the Albert constituency and that is because I have done my work in the Albert constituency since the day I was elected and I will continue to work vociferously for the people in the Albert constituency.”
