U.D.P. Delegates Share Concerns with DPM Faber

Patrick Faber

Faber’s vote seeking activities commenced with the launch of his leadership campaign in September of last year.  Since then he has been canvassing delegates in all six districts and was en route to Corozal this evening following the B.N.T.U. sit down.  In speaking about his campaign, DPM Faber spoke about the concerns of the delegates he has met with.

Patrick Faber, Leadership Candidate, U.D.P.

“Our delegates and, in fact, the wider number of people in our party are very concerned about our chances to win the next election.  So anything that hampers us from doing that, one of the things that I have clearly seen, and it is overwhelming, is that the delegates and other people in the party don’t want the kind of negative actions that are now very characteristic of this campaign.  And so, the appeal by the party officials continue for us to try to keep as civil as possible a campaign as we move into Sunday and I have tried all that I can do in order to make sure that that happens.  It is a sustained and continuous effort, you notice that there are some matters that I don’t speak about at all even though you try to prod me to do it.  I don’t speak on them not because I am afraid of those issues but I believe that sometimes we can deal with those matters internally for the party.  It is not that I don’t believe these matters are important, I try to address them in other ways rather than blasting our party because the job of bringing things back together will be so very important.  But on the specific matter of scandals and so on, I try to keep positive and run my own campaign.  I try not to campaign on what others have done but more on what I have done and I have tried to use my record as somebody who has moved up the ranks in my own party.  I don’t think that anybody can dispute that.  I have done all the journeys in terms of positions in this party.”
