Omar Mitchell is Sworn in as the New Contractor General

A new Contractor General finally took the oath today at Belize House in Belmopan. He is Omar Mitchell, an engineer by profession.  The appointment is for a period of three years. Mitchell succeeds Godwin Arzu, whose contract was not renewed for failing to produce the required annual reporting to the National Assembly.  It took about two years for government to fill the post.  At the swearing-in administered by the Governor General, Mitchell was accompanied by his family.

Omar Mitchell, Contractor General

“I, Omar Mitchell, do swear I will bear fate and allegiance to Belize and will uphold the constitution and the law and I will conscientiously, impartially and to the best of my abilities discharge my duties as contractor general and do right to all manner of people without fear or favour, affection or ill-will so help me God.”
