Caye Caulker Resident Charged for Shooting at Cop on Mapp Street

Police have arrested and charged one man for firing shots at a Police Constable. In last week’s news we reported on how PC William Woodye narrowly escaped a hail of bullets in Mapp Street area. Woodye was on motorcycle when shots were reportedly fired in his direction and as a result PC Woodye crashed into a parked vehicle and landed on the pavement with minor injuries.  Police say that it is believed that the shooter is connected to a robbery on Nursey Street:

Supt. Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Eastern Division

“Reference the aggravated assault report made by Constable William Woodye, police arrested and charged Joleel Petillo, twenty-four-year-old of Caye Caulker, for the crime of aggravated assault.”

Reporter

“Are there any charges for that?”

Supt. Alejandro Cowo

“Not for the robbery as yet, as we are still trying to convince the persons to visit the station to make a report.”
