Many Questionable Characters Granted Belizean Nationality in 2013

The issue of Belizean nationalities being hurriedly granted to questionable characters was also a hallmark in the opposition leader’s statements on adjournment.  Quite a number of Canadian and American nationals who received their Belizean passports under rush in 2013 turned out to have either been arrested, convicted or wanted for their respective roles in criminal activities.  The granddaddy of them all is Canadian national Phillip Thomas Kirby who is said to have been involved in a six-billion-dollar securities fraud in his home country.

“Maxim Poon Wong, a Canadian citizen, was granted nationality on May 30th, 2013.  He received his Belizean passport on June 26th, 2013.  Maxim Wong is alleged to be connected to the Yellow Triangle Boys criminal gang out of Canada.  Wong has been accused of drug trafficking and money laundering.  Wahn simple Google search, you know, simple Google search.  You have John Joseph Hurry, madas dis man eena wahn hurry fi true, is an American who was granted his nationality certificate on June 10th, 2013.  Dis da when dehn mi di hurry, you know dehn two thousand plus people weh get nationalities just before the elections?  Right.  John Hurry was arrested and charged for fraud.  Phillip Thomas Kirby, ah mean da Belize we hyah bout Barrow, Musa and Vega and Leiva and Briceno, yes.  You wahn get your turn you know, you wahn end up da jail.  So, Phillip Thomas Kirby, a Canadian national, was granted Belizean nationality on June 10th, 2013.  He got his Belizean passport on August 17th, 2013.  Kirby is noted to be involved, now listen to this one, Lev da play play you know, he da lee bwai to dis one.  He is noted to be involved in a six billion dollar securities fraud.  Six billion.  Bwai, yoh got some nervous people cross di next side.”
