Charges in Santa Cruz Abduction

Joseph Myvett

Police say one man will be charged in connection with an abduction and beating in Santa Cruz Village. The incident happened minutes before midnight last week Wednesday. Twenty-six-year-old Stefan Kerr reported to police that he was socializing in Santa Cruz when three men approached him and an argument followed. Kerr told police that the men forced him into a pickup truck and took him to the back of the village where they beat him up. Today police told the media that one person has been arrested and charged.

“So far police have arrested and charged one person, Kelvin Funes, and he has so far been charged for wounding and today additional charges will be preferred against him.”

“This dispute in Santa Cruz supposedly started with the accused and two others alleging that the victim had snitched on them because supposedly they had a type of drug running activity and that they believed he had snitched on them. Is this something you all are looking at that somehow this may be related to the drug trade?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Well, yes, the police did receive that information too and the victim is also known to the police in the same circles.”
