Director of Health Services Responds to Nursing Task Force

The Nursing Task Force has given the Ministries of Health and Public Service less than a week to respond to their concerns to stop the escalation of tensions. On Thursday, the task force fired off a press release in which it highlighted five critical issues that is challenging the nursing community.  It says that the ministries are dragging its feet in addressing these issues and have acted in bad faith. President of the Nurses Association of Belize, Darrell Spencer, told News Five that the nursing profession is in constant degradation and to reverse these effects, issues such as the urgent filling of the Chief Nursing Officer post need to be acted upon. Today, we spoke to Director of Health Services, Doctor Marvin Manzanero.

“We met in November of last year and I think if you go through the pointers that they have highlighted I don’t know that the specific queries are related to my desk. Once you go through those five points you will notice that perhaps four and five that are directly tied to my desk and I think that is a work in progress in tandem with that office. So that is the meeting I had in November. That is a work in progress. I don’t know that the other point highlighted there are something related to my desk.”
