Belize City Mother says Cop Attacked Her Son

Allison Broaster is accusing one police officer of using excessive force on her sixteen-year-old son. On Sunday morning, her son was making his way on West Street in Belize City when he had issues with his bicycle. He and another friend decided to walk to a friend’s house when they were searched by police officers. The officers found nothing incriminating on the youth but a comment by the teenager was not received kindly by one of the officers. According to Broaster, the police punched her son in the face at least four times.

“Two trucks of police pulled up at the corner of West Street and meet them and asked for a search. My son gave them the search and the other young man. After they gave the search they walked across the street to some along there. My son told the other young that the police came ‘rash’. He said that after he told them that the police turn back and asked him what he said. He said ‘nothing boss’. The police just punched him in his face four times. After that he said that he would put up hand with them but it was too much of them. So after that the police punch him again in his face and then he felt like his face got dislocated. I want to know why he did my son that because my son did not do anything wrong. I am asking Mr. Chester to check into this. This is not right. My son is only sixteen. He is a student at ITVET. This police, looks like he was going around and beating up everybody.”
