ComPol speaks on missing persons trend

Chester Williams

In recent weeks there has been a number of persons reported missing – some of those men, the likes of Elito Puc, Michael Cobo and Jaswant Brooks, have been found murdered and others, including Densmore Bowman and Devon Tariq Lopez, still haven’t been found. Today, Commissioner Chester Williams was asked about this growing trend of missing persons turning up dead. He says persons who are being threatened shouldn’t take those threats lightly:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“You all know that there are always ongoing feuds between rivaling groups., maybe between gangs and in some instances, not gangs but persons who have issues with each other. And that may result in persons being kidnapped and taken somewhere and killed. These are things we have to look after but one of the most salient things we have found in these investigations is the fact that after these persons do go missing the family would then say to us that they were being threatened for some time. But no one comes to the police, so we are never aware of the fact these persons were being threatened until when they disappear and are found dead. So, we want to appeal t the public that if it is that you are being threatened, by anybody, do not take the threats lightly. Come to the police, report it, even if you don’t want a court action, you can make a future reference report and with that we will be able to report the person or persons who are threatening you and try to see what we can do to intervene to prevent anything from going further.”
