Police are Seeking One More Suspect Following Deadly PG Shooting

Earlier this year, Albert Valentine and another man identified as Adwan Usher were both arrested and charged for attempted murder, in the wake of an incident that occurred in Punta Gorda back in February. It is alleged that the pair of men had let loose a barrage of gunshots at a home on Queen Street. While no one was injured during the attack, the men ran into Police Constable Marcos Chuc while attempting to flee the scene on bicycles. That was Valentine’s last reported brush with the law. On Sunday night, someone wanted him dead and it is believed that the assignment had been outsourced to a hired gun from Belize City. Valentine remains hospitalized at the Southern Regional Hospital after undergoing surgery earlier today. Sadly, the attack on his life also resulted in the death of another individual. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett tells us more.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, NCIB

“Last night, shortly after 10:30 p.m., Punta Gorda police were called to the Punta Gorda Community Hospital where they observed the body of a dark complexioned male, later identified as Glenford Hines Jr. of a Cayetano Street address of Punta Gorda Town, with apparent gunshot injuries.  What the police know so far is that Mr. Hines was inside his yard when another male person,  later identified as Albert Valentine, was walking on the street when he was approached by a dark complexioned male person who fired several shots in Valentine’s direction which caused him to run inside the yard of Mr. Hines.  And, as a result, both received gunshot injuries.  For Mr. Hines, he was rushed to the Punta Gorda Hospital where he succumbed to those injuries shortly thereafter.  Albert Valentine received gunshot injuries and he was treated and later transferred to the Southern Regional Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.  Police are seeking one suspect in relation to this investigation.  They were seeking two, but one of those persons is already in custody who we believe can assist in this investigation.”
